"The Challenges of European Cybersecurity"

The National Defence Institute (IDN) will organize, under the auspices of the European Security and Defense College (ESDC), the 2025 edition of the course "The Challenges of European Cybersecurity", in an online environment.

The course aims to raise awareness among participants for a better understanding of the fundamentals and policies of Cyberspace Security in the European context, analyze the challenges of cyber resilience arising from emerging threats, assess the capabilities and strategic requirements of the European Union and its Member States and examine their institutional and governance mechanisms. This training also allows the application of knowledge acquired through a decision-making exercise in a cyber crisis scenario in Europe.

The course is open to civilian and military personnel from EU Member States, EU institutions/agencies, candidate countries and third countries.

The course has a modular structure, organized into five sessions, over five mornings, in an online environment, dedicated to the following topics:

  • Cyberspace: Concepts and Policies;
  • Cyber-Resilience;
  • Capabilities and Requirements;
  • Governance and Diplomacy;
  • Decision Making Exercise.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and exchange views with experts and institutional representatives on cyber threats and national policies, EU capabilities, strategies and policies to address cyberspace challenges, legal frameworks and trust-building measures in cyberspace.
