​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The National Defense Institute (IDN) organizes, in partnership with the School of Social Sciences of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV/CPDOC - Brazil), the Specialization Course in Sociology of the Armed Forces. 

The course aims to promote reflection on the relationship between armed forces, state, and society, comprising the transformations, organization, and internal and external dynamics of military institutions, and their impacts and challenges in a changing world.   

In dealing with scientific production in the areas of social sciences and military studies, the course will analyze civil-military relations from a series of central issues, which focus on the relationship between the State and the Armed Forces, the political decision-making process on military action, the impact of public opinion and the media,  gender integration, organizational culture, human resources, and social and organizational challenges facing military institutions today.

The training is carried out by national and international researchers specialized in the areas of knowledge related to the themes of the course.
