This working paper aims to address some of the reasons that contributed to the decision to establish the Imamat Ismaili world headquarters in Portugal.
Account is taken of the background of the Ismaili community's relationship with Portugal, specific aspects of the country's international insertion, political and legal circumstances and some of the essential stages that, in recent years, have ended up determining this choice.
