The year 2049 will be particularly important for China and, consequently, for the world. The People's Republic of China (PRC) will celebrate the centenary of its foundation. Until then, the Chinese political elite has set itself intermediate goals, such as making Made in China technology a global reference and completing the modernisation of the People's Liberation Army. Techno-geopolitical competition is now an unavoidable reality on the world political and economic stage and China aspires to leadership.
It is against this geopolitical backdrop that IDN publishes a themed issue of Nação e Defesa, with the collaboration of a number of experts.
