On June 6, the National Defence Institute (IDN), in partnership with the Embassies of Sweden, Finland and Norway in Portugal, organized the Conference “Security Challenges Connecting Perspectives from the Arctic to Central Atlantic". Filipe Santos Costa, researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations (IPRI-NOVA), was the Keynote Speaker and the moderation was carried out by Eng. António Martins da Costa, Senior Adviser to the Executive Board of EDP.

The panel entitled “Connecting Security Perspectives" was then held, moderated by Ambassador José Costa Pereira, Portuguese Special Envoy for the Sahel, from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, composed by Ambassador Axel Wernhoff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ambassador Klaus Korhonen from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and Professor Bruno Oliveira Martins, researcher at the IDN and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).

This was followed by a period of debate with the participation of the audience, composed of ambassadors, others diplomats, high-ranking military officers, senior civil servants, researchers, elements of the private sector and members of civil society.

The common perspectives on security and defence policy were highlighted, fostering a more comprehensive and informed view of the challenges faced and the possibilities for cooperation in Europe and the Atlantic.
