The National Defence Institute, in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden, the Embassy of Finland and the Embassy of Norway in Portugal, is organizing the Conference “Security Challenges Connecting Perspectives from the Arctic to Central Atlantic" on 6 June 2025, at 9:30 am, at the National Defence Institute, in Lisbon.
The joining of Sweden and Finland to NATO has provided an unprecedented opportunity to deepen Nordic collaboration on security and defence matters, bringing an operational focus to collective efforts with the aim of contributing to a collective European defence that benefits allies and partners in the Euro-Atlantic area.
The Arctic policy is strategically important for the Allied Countries and should strengthen cooperation with a more robust defence policy in the Central Atlantic, which has been identified as one of the priority areas of cooperation within the Atlantic Alliance.
This Conference will highlight common perspectives on security and defence policy, fostering a more comprehensive and informed view of the challenges faced and the possibilities for cooperation in Europe and the Atlantic.
