The concept of energy security is undergoing a profound revision and, when extended, it considers three new perspectives: sovereignty and governance (political science), robustness (natural sciences and engineering), and resilience (economics), integrating the object of analysis of energy security to need to consider the relationship between economics and politics and between energy and climate change for its conceptualization and definition, as well as for the pursuit of sectoral policies.
To promote debate in the broader domain on the motivations for achieving or preserving energy security and/or independence, with different political choices among the 27 member states of the European Union, in a context of geopolitical and geoeconomic confrontation, the IDN organizes a conference on the 3rd of October between 09:00 and 12:45 with the theme `European energy security and autonomy´.
