On 28 June the National Defense Institute organized an international webinar on “The Russia-Ukraine War and European Defence”. The Russia-Ukraine war has fundamentally disrupted the European security order, with European countries reviewing their defense policies, committing to greater defense spending, and upholding their military support to Ukraine. At the same time, transatlantic relations have been strengthened and NATO has enlarged to include Finland, and most likely, Sweden. With NATO's upcoming summit in Vilnius, this webinar discussed the implications of the war in Ukraine for European defence, the future of the post-cold war European security order, and the prospects of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration. Invited speakers were Gustav Gressel, European Council on Foreign Relations, Berlin; Ana Santos Pinto, IPRI-NOVA Universidade Nova de Lisboa; Justyna Gotkowska, Centre for Eastern Studies, Warsaw; Elena Davlikanova, Center for European Policy Analysis, Washington and Mónica Dias, Instituto de Estudos Políticos, Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
