This book assesses the state of the art on concepts, challenges, policies, institutions, foreign policy instruments and strategic partnerships in the context of European security over the past decade, examining its current state of development and future trends within the European Union.
The chapters, written between June 2016 and June 2017, take an interdisciplinary perspective, dealing with specific areas of analysis with regard to the international performance and governance of the European Union, crisis management and European defence, principles and instruments, security challenge management and partnership relations with other international actors, within the framework of organisations and states.
At the methodological and analytical level, the seventeen tests that make up this volume investigate four levels of analysis: the level of international performance of the European Union, foreign policy instruments, security challenges and interdependence, and specific modalities of coordination and cooperation of the European Union.
