IDN edited no. 40 of the Athena Collection, entitled “A Inserção Internacional das Pequenas Potências: Primeira Guerra Mundial” ("The International Insertion of Small Powers: World War I"), by Ana Paula Pires, António Paulo Duarte and Bruno Cardoso Reis.
The book is structured around three chapters, which are added to the introduction and conclusion and aims to fill a gap in academic literature on the first world conflict, namely with regard to the role of small powers.
This work results from the Research Project of the National Defense Institute "Strategicthinking Portugal: The International Insertion of Small and Medium-Sized Powers and the First World War", developed by the National Defense Institute in partnership with the Institute of Contemporary History of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the New University of Lisbon and with the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, having been supported by the Coordinating Committee of the Evocations of the Centenary of the First World War.
