The National Defense Institute (IDN), in partnership with IPRI NOVA and the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD), organized on November 24, 2020, in online format, the Conference ‘The Future of The Atlantic Alliance’.

After the opening remarks with interventions by Helena Carreiras (Director of  IDN), Rita Faden (President of FLAD) and Nuno Severiano Teixeira (Director of  IPRI), the first panel with the theme Nato, China and Russia with Ricardo Alexandre (TSF) as moderator and with the participation of Raquel Freire (University of Coimbra), Robert Lieber (Georgetown University) and Vasco Rato (IDN); this was followed by an intervention by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva.

At the beginning of the afternoon, the second panel took place under the theme The United States, NATO and European Security with Cândida Pinto (RTP) as moderator and with interventions by Pedro Costa Pereira (Permanent Representative at NATO), Charles Kupchan (Council on Foreign Relations) and Lívia Franco (UCP-IEP). The third and last panel under the theme NATO, the European Union and International Security was moderated by Teresa de Sousa (Jornal Público) and the Minister of National Defense, João Gomes Cravinho, was the speaker.
