Both the EU’s Strategic Compass, adopted in March and NATO’s new strategic concept, adopted in June, recognises the key role of the NATO-EU partnership for transatlantic security. In an increasingly hostile strategic environment following the watershed moment for Euro-Atlantic security with the outbreak of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the complementarity between the EU and NATO is essential to redefine the security and defence order of the Euro-Atlantic area.
